Got A Mole? Try These At-Home Mole Removal Remedies

Articles

In most cases, a mole is a harmless imperfection on the skin. It can be raised or flat. If you are self-conscious about the mole, you may wish to remove it. However, if money is tight or your medical insurance won't cover the procedure, you may be looking for alternatives to having a dermatologist remove it. Fortunately, there are many home remedies that are inexpensive that may help lighten or remove the mole. Here are a few at-home mole removal remedies.

Garlic

The enzymes in garlic breakdown the skill cell clusters that cause moles to form. This can be the perfect way to breakdown raised moles. Garlic also lightens pigmentation, such as freckles, sun spots and dark moles. Follow these directions to remove your raised or dark mole using garlic:

  1. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the mole and surrounding area. This is important as garlic can burn your skin. The layer of petroleum jelly helps ensure the garlic won't come into direct contact with your skin, causing this burning to occur.
  2. Take one clove of garlic and crush it until it has a paste-like consistency.
  3. Rub the paste directly on the mole. Cover the area with a bandage to ensure the paste remains in place.
  4. Remove the bandage and the paste after four hours.
  5. Repeat this process three times a day. The darker or more raised the mole is, the longer it will take to remove. However, you should see results within a few days. If you are not seeing any results, move on to a different method.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains various acids that dry out skin growths and cause them to fall off. It can be used to get rid of warts, skin tags and moles. Follow these directions to remove your mole using apple cider vinegar:

  1. Dip the bottom half of a clean cotton ball into apple cider vinegar. Saturate the bottom half of the cotton ball and then gently squeeze it to remove excess moisture.
  2. Place the cotton ball on top of the mole, with the dampened half sitting directly on top of the mole. Place a bandage over the area to hold the cotton ball in place.
  3. Leave the cotton ball in place for eight hours before removing the bandage and cotton ball.
  4. Repeat the process daily until the mole begins to scab over. You should begin to see the mole drying out within a few days.

Honey

The enzymes in honey can help clear up many skin imperfections, including acne and moles. However, honey is slow acting. It may take weeks or months to completely remove a mole using this method. But it is safe, natural, inexpensive and won't irritate sensitive skin. Follow these directions to remove your mole with honey:

  1. Dab honey directly on the mole before bed. The mole should be completely covered in a thin layer of honey.
  2. Place a bandage over the area to ensure the honey doesn't wipe off in your sleep.
  3. Remove the bandage in the morning and wash the area well to remove any residue.
  4. Repeat this process nightly for at least one month.

Many moles can be removed at home using garlic, apple cider vinegar or honey. However, if you have attempted to remove your mole with these methods and it won't budge, you will want to consult with a dermatologist that specializes in mole removal service in your area. They can help remove a stubborn mole safely yet effectively. It is also important to note that some moles may actually be melanoma. If your mole begins to change shape, size or color, you will want to have it looked at immediately by your doctor or a dermatologist.
